One of those wonderful examples is the washing of feet, or footwashing. We read of this example in chapter 13 of the book of John. It is not something you hear Christian churches doing. I do not understand why this is overlooked. It is such a blessed thing for me personally, to humble myself before my brethren and wash their feet. A blessing that others are missing out on. Something the Lord has told us each to do for one another.
I came across 2 YouTube videos today. The first one explains footwashing so well. While the second one is such a blessing to watch, and so humbling. It really shows us the love of Jesus. How He serves each of us, and how we are to do the same for one another.
*Just a note: I have not seen other videos from these channels. Just the two I have put above. I can not say whether any other videos are acceptable to the Lord or not. I do not condone any teachings contrary to the inerrant Word of God.
Our church does footwashing during Holy Week, where we have a footwashing, and we do a traditional passover meal commemorating the Last Supper and instillation of communion. We are very excited to get to experience this next year. I have...feet issues. I do not like feet. At all. So its going to be a very difficult and humbling thing for me to do! We are very blessed to have found our church home finally. Quite a journey but so thankful to God for leading us there. I appreciate that we have communion every Sunday as we gather together, which is hard to find in many churches.
