The School Year Past

I haven't blogged in a while. Mostly because my time has been consumed with... life. My family has been very busy lately. Mostly with finishing up the school year. Most activities and classes are coming to an end for the summer. And, while we have enjoyed every one of them, we are ready for a break.

Last week we were working hard on science fair projects. The boys did an excellent job on their projects. I was very proud of them! Noah did his on evaporation. It was wonderful to see what he already knew about it and how it clicked when he learned something new. Micah did a rocket boat. He learned about Newton's Third Law. It was great to hear him explain how when there is an action, there will be a reaction. This science fair wrapped up an amazing 2 semesters of sciences classes the boys took with a great group of home schoolers. The mom who offered this class, just out of love for science, did a fantastic job! We hope to do it again next year if she chooses to offer it again!

We've also had several end-of-year parties that we have attended. And, we still have one more to go. It's been such a fun year! We have enjoyed meeting so many new friends, and, of course, keeping up with the ones we've had.

I am very thankful for summer break. Even though, we will continue to school through most of June, it's nice to have a break from all of the extra stuff. Come the end of July though, I'm sure we'll be ready for it all to start up again! I've actually already started getting my class ready for our co-op for next semester. Hey, it's good to be prepared, right?!!

I'm also trying to get things ready for a trip to visit family. Praying that everything works out and we are able to go. Just the thought process of it all can be tiring! But, it will be well worth it. We haven't seen this extended family in 2 years. Plus, they need to meet the newest addition to our family! So, I don't mind all of the craziness that goes along with planning a trip!

As I think about all that we have done this past school year, and how busy we were, it makes me realize how much fun we have had. How many new things we have learned. We've experienced so many different thing together. Together. I love that I get to tag along with my kids on this adventure called life. That I get to be there for everything that they do. What they learn, I get to learn. What they enjoy, I get to enjoy. The light in their eyes as they learn something new. The joy that they express when the concept they are learning finally clicks. It's amazing!!! I wouldn't change any of it for anything. Period.

Creation Day Two: The Firmament

This week for Children Sabbath School we will be discussing day two of Creation. What a great study it has been preparing for it!

"And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day." Genesis 1:6-8
Dr. Carl Baugh has a great theory on the firmament mentioned in day two of Creation. It is pretty amazing. It's called the Crystalline Canopy Theory. Dr. Baugh even has a Creation Evidence Museum in Glen Rose, Texas. Yes, here, in Texas! It is somewhere my husband has been wanting to go for quite a while. We need to just go. The museum has evidence of humans and dinosaurs living together, at the same time! And, it's inexpensive to visit. $5 for the immediate family. Not bad!

Anyway, it's great stuff. I recommend watching his seminar series titled Creation in Symphony: The Evidence & Creation in Symphony: The Model. Both are excellent!

I haven't finished my study for Sabbath School just yet but wanted to share that with you all.

Blessings friends!

Camping

This post was supposed to be me telling you about all the fun my family had while camping this past weekend. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We did go camping, And, it was fun. Well, not fun for me. I woke up sick the first morning there. I felt awful! Achy body, throbbing head, sore throat and my ear was bothering me. But, because I love camping so much, I thought I could rough it out. We were supposed to stay 3 nights. The boys explored and we all went down to the swimming hole. I didn't do any swimming but the boys did. And they had lots of fun. Even baby girl enjoyed playing in the water with daddy! I'm glad they had that 1 great day at camp because the next morning I wasn't any better, and my eye was now bothering me. I couldn't rough it out any longer. It was time to go home. Which really saddened me. I truly enjoy camping. I hadn't been in 2 years and I was determined to go this year.

I planned, I packed, I got things ready. Interestingly enough though, all of my planning and packing, we still didn't have everything we needed. When we got to the campsite we noticed that things weren't there. Didn't we just buy 3 flashlights? Where's the stakes to the tent go? You want ketchup and mustard on your veggie burger? I could go on but don't want to shame myself too much. In the midst of it all though, on our first night at camp, the campers next to us were gently playing a guitar and sing praise and worship songs to our Lord and Saviour. It was wonderful to hear all of those young voices singing so lovingly that evening. Even though so many things were going wrong on our camping trip, those songs were a gentle reminder that He is enough. Yes, we may have forgotten some stuff. Yes, I was ill. But, through it all, He was with us. We had that one good day together, as a family. And that's what the camping trip was about - family togetherness.

I thank the Lord for our 1 day camping. I am thankful that we were able to spend some nice quality time together in God's wonderful creation. The scenery was beautiful. The weather was nice. Yes, I think it was a great camping trip after all!
